Divergent

Divergent (Divergent, #1)Divergent by Veronica Roth
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well...
IT'S WRITTEN IN FIRST PERSON!! <- that is me not being happy.

I still don't understand that I managed to finish it. It took me over a 100 pages to even like the main character! But after that the action was good and she started to grow on me. Maybe it's good to have my "read a 100 pages"-rule.

The things I liked:

- Action, and there was a lot.
- Training.
- Christina, Will, Uriah, Four... Basically all her friends.

The things I didn't like (and why): (this part may contain spoilers)

- Tris in the first 100 pages and the last 80.
She was a boring "I-am-so-brave-and-weak-at-the-same-time-and-none-of-it-is-convincing" type of character. Somehow I could believe her more in the middle part of the book.

- The love story.
Is that something that finds it's way into every single book these days?
With this I mean the boring love stories, a good one should always be a part of a novel. This is the same thing that happens all the time. The nobody becomes somebody and gets the guy. Not long ago I read Crown of Midnight (read review: CLICK HERE) and there's a love story were the well known and strong girl get the guy right for her.
This is not all about the girl or what kind of love story, but make it believable, like in Crown of Midnight. We don't need more Twilight stuff.

- The society/dystopia
Doesn't feel real. Has the author thought about the world trough and trough? That I would like to know. Does everything connect outside of what we see trough Tris? (It already feels like some stuff doesn't work out.)

There are the tree main things I like and those I dislike. Two stars because "it was ok". This wont make my top 50 of books I've read but might be at the bottom of my top 100.

description

I've bought the whole series so I'll read it. Hopefully it'll get better.
